Questions About Family Sessions
What should we wear?+
Coordinated but not matching. Think complementary tones — earth tones, neutrals, and soft colors photograph beautifully. Avoid large logos, neon colors, and busy patterns. We send a detailed style guide after booking.
What if my kids won't cooperate?+
Kids are unpredictable — that's half the charm. We're experienced with children of all ages and have plenty of tricks to get genuine smiles. The best family photos often happen in the unscripted moments between poses.
Studio or outdoor — which is better?+
Studio gives you guaranteed lighting and a clean, editorial look regardless of weather. Outdoor adds natural scenery and a more relaxed feel. Our Studio + Lifestyle package includes both. For families with young kids, studio is often easier to control.
Can grandparents join the session?+
Absolutely — multi-generation sessions are one of our favorites. We capture the full group, each nuclear family unit, grandparent + grandchild combos, and individual portraits. The Studio + Lifestyle or Business & Family package gives enough time for all combinations.
How far in advance should we book?+
2–3 weeks is usually fine. For holiday card sessions (October–December), book at least 4–6 weeks ahead as that's our busiest season for family photography.
Can we purchase additional edited photos?+
Yes — additional retouched images are $99 each and unretouched images are $49 each. You'll see all your photos in an online proofing gallery and can choose which additional ones you'd like.
